10 Austin Markets to Shop This October
10 Austin Markets to Shop This October
October is when Austin finally steps back outside. The heat breaks, the patios fill up, and nearly every weekend there's a market worth leaving the house for.

After 25+ years here, this is the month I tell people to block off their Saturdays. Here are 10 markets on my list this October, from weekly farmers markets to once-a-year makers fairs. No gatekeeping, just the good stuff.
Mark your calendar: five one-time markets
1. Austin Mystical Market
When: Friday, October 9, 7–11 p.m. Where: The Buzz Mill
This is the night market for anyone who likes their art a little witchy. It's artist-run, and vendors have to make at least 90% of what they sell, so you're buying straight from the hands that made it. Expect ceramics, candles, soap, jewelry, and a tarot reader or two. It lands on the second Friday of every month, and the October edition is the one to catch.
2. Markets for Makers Fall Market
When: Saturday and Sunday, October 17–18, 11 a.m.–5 p.m. Where: Palmer Events Center, 900 Barton Springs Rd.
The big one. More than 100 makers fill Palmer with home decor, ceramics, art prints, candles, jewelry, and food. There are free DIY craft stations and every ticket comes with a tote bag. Tickets run $6 to $12 depending on when you arrive, or $16 for an all-weekend VIP pass with early shopping at 10 a.m. Saturday. Kids under 12 are free. Garage parking is $12, card only.
3. 512 Vintage Market
When: Friday, October 23, 6–11 p.m. Where: 1104 W. 34th St.
A fourth-Friday night market with vendors from across Texas: true vintage clothing, rare sneakers, vinyl, candles, and local art. Admission is free. This one has moved around in the past, so check their Instagram the week of.
4. Black Outside Fest
When: Saturday, October 24, noon–6 p.m. Where: Millennium Youth Entertainment Complex, East Austin
Black Makers Market puts this on, and it's so much more than a market. Shop 40+ Black makers selling art, fashion, beauty, plants, books, and home goods. Then stay for the DJs, live performances, film screenings, food trucks, skating, and bowling. It's free with an RSVP. Note the change if you saved the earlier details: the fest has a new date and moved to the Millennium.
5. Filipino Day Market ATX
When: Sunday, October 25, starting at noon Where: Austin Beerworks Sprinkle Valley, 10300 Springdale Rd.
October is Filipino American History Month, and this is the fifth year Filipino Young Professionals of Austin has hosted a market to celebrate it. The lineup is 45+ local vendors, Filipino food and pastries, and live music and dance. Come hungry.
Every week: five standing markets
6. SFC Farmers' Market Downtown
When: Saturdays, 9 a.m.–1 p.m. Where: Republic Square
The Sustainable Food Center's downtown market brings about 75 vendors to the park every Saturday, with live music on the plaza and cafe seating. Republic Square hosts other festivals this month, so glance at the park calendar before you head down.
7. Texas Farmers' Market at Mueller
When: Sundays, 10 a.m.–2 p.m., rain or shine Where: Branch Park Pavilion, 2006 Philomena St.
The Sunday standby. The glass-walled pavilion gives you an indoor-outdoor market with 100+ vendors, and around 40% of them are farmers and ranchers from within 150 miles. There's free street parking plus the district garages, and the park next door is an easy place to let kids run.
8. Boggy Creek Farm
When: Wednesday through Saturday, 8 a.m.–1 p.m. Where: East Austin
An East Side original. This is a working urban farm with a historic farmhouse and a hen house, and the farm stand sells what was grown a few yards from where you're standing. You park right on the farm. Fall is when the greens come back, which makes October a good time to start the habit.
9. SoCo Makers Market
When: Friday through Sunday, roughly 10 a.m.–5 p.m. (Sunday opens after noon) Where: 1501 S. Congress Ave.
An open-air pop-up in the middle of South Congress with a vendor lineup that changes weekly: vintage clothing, handmade jewelry, and crafts. It's free, and it's the easiest market on this list to fold into an afternoon you already had planned. Parking on SoCo is tight on weekends, so give yourself extra time.
10. Guad Vintage Market
When: Sundays, noon–6 p.m., rain or shine Where: 2932 Guadalupe St. (the Pavement parking lot)
Thirty-plus vendors on the Drag every Sunday with vintage denim, graphic tees, Y2K finds, streetwear, and handmade jewelry. Sellers drive in from Houston and San Antonio, and the racks rotate weekly. Admission is free.
Before you go
- Plan around the big weekends. ACL runs October 2–4 and 9–11, and F1 is in town October 23–25. Traffic and parking near downtown and Zilker will be slower than usual.
- Bring a tote and some cash. Most vendors take cards, but cash still helps when you're bundling a few vintage pieces.
- Go early for selection, late for deals. The best finds go first. The markdowns tend to show up in the last hour.
- Double-check the day of. Pop-ups move and hours shift. A quick look at the market's website or Instagram saves a wasted drive.
Markets are one of my favorite ways to get to know a neighborhood. You see who lives there, what they make, and what a Saturday morning feels like. If one of these has you picturing yourself living around the corner, I'd love to help. Find me on Instagram at @jenn_sells_austin or reach out directly at jenn@openhouseaustin.co.
